Student Life in Turin

The city is home to two major universities. The University of Turin (UniTo), one of Europe’s oldest universities, was founded in 1404 and welcomes over 83,000 students in degrees like law, medicine and philosophy. Politecnico di Torino (PoliTO) is still one of Italy’s oldest and most established technical universities, educating students since 1859. PoliTO is well known for engineering, architecture and design. Together, the universities bring thousands of students to the city each year and play a big part in Turin’s busy and diverse student community.

Your student life will never be boring in Turin. The city is easy to get around, with good public transport connecting university campuses, neighbourhoods and the city centre. Neighbourhoods like San Salvario and Vanchiglia are fantastic for nightlife, and also feature charming historic cafes, as well as restaurants focusing both on local cuisine and some international favourites. Not as touristy as Rome, Milan or Florence, Turin is the perfect place to enjoy a lively student experience while living the typical Italian city life.
